We are a Tanzania-specialist green coffee importer with an in-country Q-Grader, direct farmer relationships, and a single non-negotiable standard: every lot must be exceptional.
Kilimanjaro Beans was founded with a clear belief: the world's best specialty roasters deserve direct access to Tanzania's finest green coffee, without the layers of intermediaries that dilute traceability, compress quality, and leave farmers undervalued.
Operating between Bromma, Stockholm and our sourcing network across Tanzania, we bridge two worlds — the precision and quality standards expected by European and global specialty buyers, and the extraordinary raw material produced by smallholder farmers on the slopes of Africa's highest mountain.
Tanzania is an underrated origin. It sits in the shadow of Ethiopia and Kenya in the specialty market despite producing genuinely exceptional arabica across five distinct growing regions. We believe that gap is an opportunity — and closing it through quality, transparency, and storytelling is exactly what we are here to do.
Our certified Q-Grader is permanently based in Tanzania, evaluating every lot before export using SCA protocol. Only lots scoring 84+ are offered. No surprises on arrival — ever.
We are not a broker, a commodity trader, or a middleman. We are a direct-trade specialist with deep, year-round relationships at origin. Here is what that means in practice.
Every decision we make — which farms to work with, which lots to approve, how we communicate with buyers — comes back to the same question: does this create a better outcome for the farmer, the coffee, and the roaster at the other end?
See Our Full ProcessWe source directly from washing stations and cooperatives. No brokers, no auction blending. The farmer who grew your coffee is named on the lot documentation.
Most importers evaluate coffee after it arrives in the destination country. We cup at origin — close to processing date, when the coffee is at its most vibrant — and reject any lot below 84.
Full cupping sheets, farm or washing station traceability, harvest date, processing details, and altitude. You receive everything you need to tell a complete and honest story to your customers.
The farmers we work with are paid prices that reflect the quality they produce — not commodity C-market rates. We see this as inseparable from sourcing exceptional coffee consistently.
Whether you want to request a sample, ask about current lot availability, or just find out whether Tanzania is the right origin for your roastery — we respond within 24 hours and there is never any obligation to buy.
We maintain year-round availability from three primary origins, with limited allocations from Kigoma and Kilosa during harvest season.
